The Executive Director of the National Commission on Culture, Mr. Wakefield Wisdom Akuaku, has paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Ben Mohammed Abdallah, a founding figure and former chairman of the Commission. The visit, which coincided with Dr. Abdallah’s birthday, was a thoughtful gesture of respect and continuity.

The engagement with the former Chairman of the Commission forms part of the Executive Director’s wider initiative to engage with former leaders, encourage collaboration, and strengthen the foundations of the Commission’s work.

The meeting was characterized by warm and insightful exchanges, reflecting a shared commitment to preserving and promoting Ghana’s diverse and vibrant cultural heritage.

The Executive Director shared his heartfelt appreciation for the significant work Dr. Abdallah did during his time at the Commission and assured him of his commitment to continue building on the strong groundwork set by leaders like him.

Mr. Akuaku paid tribute to Dr. Abdallah’s legacy, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping the Commission. He further emphasised that culture is the soul of a nation and encouraged artists to allow their work to speak for them, as their legacies will outlive them.

In response, Dr. Abdallah congratulated Mr. Akuaku on his appointment and offered words of encouragement and support. He stressed the importance of a strong cultural policy, stakeholder collaboration, and the need for innovation to address the challenges within the evolving cultural landscape.

The former Director of the Community Education & Youth Development (CEYD) directorate of the Commission, Dr. Akosua Abdallah, who was in attendance noted that the meeting was a preliminary engagement, with a formal working session to be scheduled.

The visit concluded with mutual expressions of goodwill, with Mr. Akuaku conveying birthday wishes and sincere appreciation for the hospitality extended to him.
