Official Statement – Black Star Christmas 2026

The National Commission on Culture proudly partners GD Visionary and other stakeholders to organise Black Star Christmas 2026. As the sole agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts with representation in all 16 regions and every municipality and district, and with auditoria in nine regions boasting a combined seating capacity of about 15,000, we are uniquely positioned to lead this national engagement. We drive this mandate through our year-long Black Star Experience thematic calendar: January for Research and Development; February for Literacy, Literary Works, Indigenous and Drum Language; March for Heritage, History and Independence; April as Pan-African Month; May for Extractives; June for Medicine, Science, Technology and Innovation; July as Family Month; August for Food and Drinks; September for Art; October for Ghana Film Craft Festival and Awards, Student Drama Festivals and Storytelling; November for Fashion, Textiles and Accessories; and December as Ghana Music and Dance Festival Month.

We partner because Black Star Christmas crowns this calendar and tells the authentic Ghanaian story. It showcases our hospitality, music, film, fashion and community spirit. It uses culture to drive national cohesion and pride, and it positions Ghana as Africa’s leading Christmas and tourism destination. Beyond entertainment, it delivers the true Black Star Experience – it celebrates our resilience, our freedom and our Pan-African excellence.

Through this partnership, we actively support the creative economy. We create jobs and open opportunities for our filmmakers, musicians and cultural practitioners, and we will deploy our national footprint and facilities to host and amplify activities from our thematic months across the country.

We will elevate Ghana’s cultural footprint globally. The Commission warmly welcomes artists, cultural practitioners, institutions and the public to experience this December culmination – a celebration of art, humanity, nature and spirituality. We invite all Ghanaians, the diaspora and friends of Ghana to join this historic celebration.
