The National Commission on Culture (NCC), led by Executive Director Mr. Wakefield Ackuaku, has taken a major step to enhance cultural connections between Ghana and its diaspora.

In a recent ceremony, the Commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ghanafest Alberta Inc., an organization dedicated to celebrating Ghanaian cultural heritage through arts, music, fashion, and trade fairs with the aim of establishing a framework of collaboration.

The Ghana Fest Alberta is an annual event scheduled to take place from 25th to 27th July, 2025 at the Louise McKinney Riverfront Park, Edmonton, Alberta under the theme “celebrating Ghanaian Identity and Heritage in the Diaspora.”

At the event, Mr. Ackuaku expressed the Commission’s excitement about the partnership, stating that the initiative supports the NCC’s long-term goal of engaging the diaspora through cultural activities.

He noted that the collaboration represents a natural progression of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with Ghanaians living abroad.
