The National Commission on Culture (NCC) has formalised its partnership with Citi High Entertainment through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for this year’s Ghana-Japan Festival.

The 2025 Ghana-Japan Festival is a two-day festival designed to celebrate Ghanaian culture in Japan through music, fashion, arts, and trade. The event aims to strengthen cultural and economic ties between Ghana and Japan while showcasing the vibrancy of Ghana’s creative industries on a global stage.

With Japan’s growing interest in African culture and worldwide popularity of Afrobeats and Highlife, GHAPAN Fest ’25 presents a unique opportunity to position Ghana as a leader in cultural exchange and creative exports.

The Executive Director of the NCC appreciated the organisers for their efforts in promoting the Ghanaian culture and heritage by organising the festival.

He emphasised the importance of such events in promoting Ghanaian culture on both local and international stages. “Our doors are widely open for collaborations that enhance the promotion of Ghanaian culture.”

He encouraged the organisers and stakeholders not to focus solely on travel and tourism aspects but to ensure the festival makes a meaningful cultural impact on Ghana.

The Director further called on potential sponsors to come on board, highlighting that increased sponsorship would be instrumental in making the event a big success.

We need more sponsors to support this noble cause to ensure the festival achieves its full potential, he added.

The Executive Director while reaffirming the NCC’s commitment to the partnership, cautioned that the Commission would not hesitate to hold the organisers accountable should there be any actions that disrepute the NCC’s name. “The integrity of our name is paramount, and any breach will be dealt with accordingly.”

Mr. Ibrahim Alhassan, the Project Coordinator at Citi High Entertainment expressed gratitude to the Commission for the partnership and pledged to adhere strictly to the terms outlined in the MOU.

He assured that his team would not undertake any actions that could undermine the reputation of the NCC.

The signing of the MOU underscores a significant step toward strengthening cultural ties and showcasing Ghanaian heritage through the 2025 Ghana-Japan Festival.
